Who Qualifies?
- Individuals who made less than $125,000 in 2021 or 2020
- Families that made less than $250,000 in 2021 or 2020

How Much Will Be Forgiven?
$20,000 to Federal Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 to non-Pell Grant recipients.
Note: The loan forgiveness program is only for federal loans and not for private loans. Below is a list of Federal Student Loan Servicing Companies.

When Do I Need to Apply By?
By no later than Dec. 31, 2023.
How Do I Apply?
Simply fill out the Debt Relief Application.
I Applied, Now What?
1) Check your email to make sure you got the confirmation email.
2) The US Department of Education or your loan servicer may contact you via email with additional instructions if they need more information. If you don’t hear back then no further action is needed.
3) Once your application has been approved, then your loan servicer will notify you when your debt relief has been applied.
What Else Do I Need to Know?
Refunds for Past Payments: If you made loan payments during the payment pause from March 13, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2022, you will automatically be refunded the amount you paid, up to the remaining amount of your eligible debt relief.
Beware of Scams: You may get contacted by someone saying they will help you get a loan discharge, forgiveness, cancellation, or debt relief for a fee. You do not have to pay a fee for this program. Be sure to never reveal your personal information or account password to anyone.
